Nikita De Laet graduated in 2017 as a veterinarian at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Merelbeke (UGent). Immediately after this, she completed a rotating small animals internship. She then moved to the UK for one year to complete a specialist internship in internal medicine for small animals. Afterwards she returned to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Merelbeke (UGent) to work as a veterinarian in the Internal Medicine department. In April 2020 she started a residency (specialization training) in Internal Medicine at the Small Animal Clinic, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UGent).
In function of her 'residency', Nikita is currently conducting research into the use of kidney markers (renal biomarkers) in dogs. In the past she has also contributed to research in hyperthyroid cats.
In her spare time Nikita likes to dance, go to the gym or go to the wellness centre. She also spends a lot of time with her family, friends, her dog Lou and 2 cats Luz and Tembi.
